Why Don't We Use The Word Osteopath in Sudbury

When most people call the office and ask for an osteopath here in Sudbury, they are usually referring to an osteopathic manual practitioner. Currently there are over 2000 osteopathic manual practitioners working here in Ontario, but we are currently legally not allowed to call ourselves an osteopath. The word "osteopath" is a trademarked word that is "owned" and can only be used by Osteopathic Physicians. So, when looking for an Osteopath in Sudbury, know that you are probably looking for an Osteopathic Manual Practitioner, not an Osteopath. Someday, we may be able to use the term osteopath here in Sudbury, but for now, we are not able to.
